Tuff Weekend Round up 25th -26th June
This weekend round up actually starts last Tuesday at Hedgehog Tri’s Swim the Lake Race. Joe Pascoe reports in as follows:-
So Tuesday evening was the setting for a delightful dip in Ardingly Reservoir. Getting there was the real challenge of the night, a quick race through Worthing rush hour to make it for 6:30 registration. The 3km was off first, followed by the 1.5km. We had two laps of nice flat water to cover. I told myself to take the first lap slow and see what happened. Unfortunately as soon as the hooter went I forgot the game plan and sprinted as hard as I could to first mark. After panting around the rest of the race like an asthmatic duck I stumbled out with Dom close behind, having paced himself properly. Finished of the evening with a nice trail run around the reservoir. Joe Pascoe 5th overall 23:40, Dom Chapman 6th overall 23:44 and Ben Abbott 26th.
Onto the weekend and an event that was scheduled across the whole weekend – Race to the King – South Downs Double Marathon – 53.5m Staring near Arundel the route took competitors through the South Downs National Park until they they reached the finish on the steps of Winchester Cathedral and the burial place of the first kings of England. Great work from Ian and Leigh Moore. Leigh (The start is pictured above) with Ian stating they were wet and muddy miles. They finished the race together in 13 hours 5 minutes
