RED January 2020
Tuff Fitty is proudly supporting RED January 2020, a national initiative to encourage people to get active every day in January to support their mental health.
Any activity counts including walking, pilates, ballroom dancing and yoga (so not just swimming, cycling and running). The aim is to get moving daily during a characteristically tough month, whilst raising awareness and support for mental health.
Anyone can take part and its free to register by clicking on RED January 2020. The online community you join will help you every splash, pedal and step.
RED is founded on research that shows physical activity can have a positive impact on mental wellbeing, even reducing symptoms of mental illness such as depression and anxiety. In the post RED January 2018 survey, 87% of REDers reported feeling significantly better physically and mentally, after getting active every day.
Anyone wishing to raise funds for our partners Coastal West Sussex Mind is given an option to do so. Any money raised supports their vital work in the local community, supporting mental health services and ensuring everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets the help and respect they deserve. Please note, that RED January is primarily an awareness raising initiative. If you would like to raise funds that would be brilliant and it can be a great incentive to be active, but please don’t feel obliged to do so.
In addition to offering opportunities for anyone or wants to come along to our swimming, cycling and running sessions, Tuff Fitty will be promoting RED January to the wider community throughout December including at the Littlehampton Prom Parkrun on 7 December. It would be great if we could get as many Tuffs as possible along to this event wearing either Tuff Fitty colours or a RED January t-shirt. Please see the Tuff Fitty calendar for details.
